Sailing Takes Eighth at BU Trophy

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard sailing team split up to take on three races in Boston and one in Providence this weekend: The Central Series III, the Lynne Marchiando Trophy, the BU Trophy and the Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy.

Harvard sent Lucy Wilmot and Alejandra Resendiz to compete in the A Division of the BU Trophy with support from Catherine Kerner and Catherine Tang in the B Division. The pairs finished the weekend with a combined 90 points. The Crimson earned an eighth-place finish at the conclusion of the weekend. For full results, please see the BU Trophy page.

For the the 36th Lynne Marchiando Trophy, Harvard sent skippers, Nick Sertl, Nick DiGiovanni, Dylan Farrell and Nick Karnovsky and crews, Nomin-Erdene Jagdagdorj, Priscilla Russo, Julia Lord and Kevin Coakley to compete in the 16-team fleet. Despite a 1-2-3 finish against Boston University and a 1-3-5 placement against Rhode Island, the Crimson were limited to a 10th-place finish at the conclusion of two rounds.  For full results, please see the Lynne Marchiando page.

Harvard hosted the Central Series III on the Charles River on Sunday. The 16-boat fleet featured competitors from around New England. Harvard had Sofia Mascia and Amalia Frohna sail in the A Division, finishing the six races with 54 points. Ben Zheng, Juan Crestanello and Tancredi Castellano Pucci Di Barsento split up duties in the B Division. The trio earned 62 points and assisted the Crimson to an 11th-place finish. Harvard sent Taylor Ladd and Kristin Anderson to compete in the A-Division at the Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy hosted by Brown. The pair finished the four-race event with 90 points and three top-10 placements. Taylor Gavula, Jessica Williams and Emma Wheeler competed for the Crimson in the B Division, finishing the event with 79 points and five top-10 placements. Williams competed on Saturday, while Wheeler assisted Gavula on Sunday. The trio assisted the Crimson to a 12th place finish amongst the 18-boat fleet. Harvard will compete in the New England Team Race Championships and the Emily Wick Trophy April 8-9.
