Sailing Posts a Fifth-Place Finish at President's Trophy

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard sailing team split up to take on two races in Boston and two in Connecticut this weekend: the Thompson Trophy at Connecticut College, the President's Trophy at BU, the Owen, Mosbacher and Knapp Trophies at Yale and the Oberg Trophy at Northeastern.

Harvard sent Nick Sertl and Christine Gosioco to sail in the A Division, Nick Karnovsky and Nomin-Erdene Jagdagdorj to sail in the B-Division and Dylan Farrell and Julia Lord to compete in the C Division. Kevin Coakley served as the heavy-air specialist for the Thompson Trophy.  The pairs finished the weekend with a combined 440 points. For the President's Trophy, Harvard sent Taylor Gavula and Emma Wheeler to compete in the A Division and Lucy Wilmot and Alejandra Resendiz to sail in the B Division. With 10 top-three finishes, the Crimson earned a fifth-place finish at the conclusion of the weekend.  For full results, please see the President's Trophy page.
 
Harvard traveled to Yale for the Owen, Mosbacher and Knapp Trophies. The two-division regatta will serve as the Ivy League Championship race and will feature competitors from across New England. Harvard had Nick DiGiovanni and Priscilla Russo compete in the A Division, Taylor Ladd and Krsitin Anderson sail in the B Division, with Sofia Mascia serving as the heavy air specialist. Harvard sent Catherine Kerner and Catherine Tang to compete for the Oberg Trophy in the A Division, and finished the weekend with 94 points.  Andrew Puopolo and Tancredi Castellano Pucci Di Barsento split their time in the B Division and contributed 74 points. Victoria Marquez and Cara Kennedy-Cuomo sailed in the C Division and earned 71 points. The group assisted the Crimson to a ninth-place finish amongst the 11-boat fleet. Harvard will close out its regular season next weekend at the Morris Trophy, Reed Trophy, and Boston Dinghy Club Challenge Cup.
