CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard softball team recently released its 2012 schedule, including trips to Florida and California to kick off the year and 20 Ivy League contests throughout March and April.

The Crimson will compete in the South Florida Under Armour Invitational March 2-4 in Tampa, Fla., to start the spring slate. Harvard takes on Toledo to open the tournament March 2 before facing Western Michigan, Miami (Ohio) and host South Florida to round out the three-day event.

Harvard's spring break trip is next for the Crimson, as the squad will be traveling across the country for the Northridge Classic in Northridge, Calif., before moving on to Los Angeles and San Diego as part of an eight-day trip March 9-17. During the Northridge Classic (March 9-11), Harvard will take on Maine and Cal State Northridge twice apiece and Oregon State one time. The Crimson is slated to take on Utah State in Los Angeles March 12, followed by five games in San Diego to finish the trip. On the docket in San Diego will be UNLV and four California teams, including away games at San Diego and San Diego State.

Ivy League play opens March 30 at Cornell in a rematch of the last two Ivy League championship series, while the Crimson will play its first Ivy home game April 6 against Columbia. Harvard will play four games apiece against its counterparts of the Ivy League North Division (Brown, Dartmouth, Yale) and two games apiece against South Division foes (Columbia, Cornell, Penn, Princeton) in its attempt to return to the Ivy League Championship series for a third straight season.

The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 17-20. The NCAA Super Regionals will be held May 24-27, and the NCAA Women's College World Series will be May 31-June 6.
