Haley Davis helped the Crimson to a weekend sweep of Yale
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a stellar week of competition that saw the Crimson put together a five-game winning streak and four-game sweep of archrival Yale, freshman Haley Davis has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for April 15. It marks Harvard’s first league weekly award of the season.
Davis was an integral part of the Crimson’s success this past week, logging a hit in four of five games and recording a pair of multi-hit contests. Against local foe Boston University, Davis went 2 for 3 with an RBI and scored the game-winning run in a 2-1 victory. She repeated the 2 for 3 showing in the series opener against the Bulldogs and drove in a pair of runs in a 7-4 win. She scored the winning run in Game 2 against Yale and her sacrifice fly brought in the game-winning run in Game 3.
The freshman ended the week with six hits in 13 at-bats, five runs scored, five RBI two doubles and two walks. She posted a .462 batting average for the week and a .615 slugging percentage.
Davis and the Crimson finish off a lengthy homestand Thursday when Quinnipiac comes to Cambridge for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
