Seven Freshmen Bolster Alpine, Nordic Skiing Rosters
The Crimson looks to qualify a number of competitors for
NCAA's in 2013-14 (Chris City).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seven newcomers will grace the Harvard Nordic and Alpine skiing rosters for the 2013-14 season, head coaches Chris City and Tim Mitchell announced. The Nordic squads gain four first-years competitors while the Alpine teams add three rookies to their ranks.
Buoyed by a strong senior class, the men’s Nordic squad looks to be a constant force in the EISA this season with the addition of two freshmen. Ian Meyer joins the squad from Weston, Mass., and has been working out with the Harvard crew team this fall, while Devlin Shea, from Waitsfield, Vt., rounds out the men’s roster. Telluride, Colo., native Rachel Hampton comes to the women’s Nordic squad after spending the fall with the women’s cross country team, and Maile Sapp joins the team from Morrisonville, N.Y.
The men’s Alpine team gains a pair of new talents in Daniel Fowler (Winhall, Vt.) and James Stevenson (Villars sur Ollon, Switzerland). Canadian Kaitlyn Gibson, hailing from Bragg Creek, Alta., is the lone member of the class of 2017 joining the women’s Alpine team.
