Thomas Sets School, Ivy 100m Mark at Florida Relays

Sophomore Gabby Thomas broke Harvard's school record in the 100-meter dash at the Florida Relays. 

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –
The Harvard track and field team competed in two outdoor meets on Friday – the Florida Relays and the Stanford Invitational – with the majority of Crimson athletes competing in Gainesville.

Sophomore sprinter Gabby Thomas set a new school record in the 100-meter dash, recording the top time among collegiate athletes, and finishing third overall in 11.24 seconds. Thomas also earned a victory in the 200-meter dash, nearing her own program mark with a 22.60 second performance.

Harvard's 4x400-meter relay team recorded a top-10 time in program history, as Zoe Hughes, Gabby Thomas, Jade Miller, and Karina Joiner finished fourth in 3:39.35 to qualify for the final.

In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Karina Joiner recorded her best time in the event (13.99), while freshman Zoe Hughes (14.11) and senior Jade Miller (14.21) also recorded top-10 times in program history.

Freshman Simi Fajemisin had another impressive showing in the long jump, finishing fourth with a 19' 4.25" effort on her fourth attempt of the day.

On the men's side, senior Julian Nunally placed seventh in the discus throw with a 176-foot effort, nearing his own personal record set earlier this season (179' 10").

In the 800-meter run, sophomore Myles Marshall neared his own personal record, placing 17th overall in 1:49.39.

On Thursday, Jade Miller placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles open competition, finishing in 57.61.

At the Stanford Invitational, freshman Judy Pendergast made her outdoor debut in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 16:22.85. Junior Gabe Montague competed in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 3:56.34.
