Harvard track and field will send 17 student-athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary meet hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Meet Entries: MEN l WOMEN
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seventeen members of the Harvard track and field team will represent the Crimson at the NCAA East Region Championships on May 25-27, hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Ten members of the women's team and seven members of the men's team will compete at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility next weekend.
On the women's side, Gabby Thomas (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Lisa Tertsch (3000m steeplechase), Judy Pendergast (5000m), Elianna Shwayder (5000m), Jade Miller (400m hurdles, 4x100m relay), Ngozi Musa (4x100m relay), Zoe Hughes (4x100m relay), Karina Joiner (4x100m relay), Simi Fajemisin (long jump, triple jump) and Nikki Okwelogu (shot put, discus) will make the trip to Kentucky. Four of Harvard's entries (Thomas – 100m, 200m; Miller – 400m hurdles; 4x100m relay) are among the top 10 seeds in the competition.
Representing the men's team will be Myles Marshall (800m), Will Battershill (3000m steeplechase), Jay Hebert (110m hurdles), Donagh Mahon (high jump), Efe Uwaifo (triple jump), Julian Nunally (discus), and Brett Henderson (javelin). Uwaifo's qualifying triple jump mark makes him the No. 6 seed heading into the meet.
Student-athletes that place in the top-12 of their respective events at the East Preliminary will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon (June 7-10). The top-12 finishing individuals and relay teams from the West region will join the East qualifiers to compete at Hayward Field.
