CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Kelly Finley, a member of Harvard women's basketball's coaching staff for the past four years, has accepted the position of first assistant and recruiting coordinator at the University of Colorado. Finley will be rejoining current Colorado head coach Linda Lappe, who served as an assistant coach at Colorado State while Finley was a member of the squad.
Harvard posted a 75-41 record in Finley's four years on the job, including a 42-14 record in the Ivy League. 15 Crimson earned All-Ivy honors in that time while three, Emma Markley '11, Brogan Berry '12 and Victoria Lippert '13, eclipsed the 1,000 point plateau.
Harvard's 2011 recruiting class was ranked as the 31st-best class in the country by ESPN and included the program's first-ever McDonald's All-American in Temi Fagbenle, who was rated the 13th-best prospect as a senior. Harvard's 2012 recruiting class includes guard Shilpa Tummala, who is ranked 68th overall.
"It's hard to lose a coach like Kelly who has been so valuable to our program over the last several years," head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith commented. "She has a great opportunity to coach with one of her mentors and I know Colorado will be a great experience for her. She has been loved and respected by everyone here in the Harvard community."
