Fagbenle's eight rookie of the week honors rank second in program history (OAC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Temi Fagbenle has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week following the Crimson's 2-0 weekend against Brown and Yale.
Fagbenle has now earned eight rookie of the week honors from the conference office, the fifth most in Ancient Eight history. The sophomore is just one award shy of tying Allison Feaster '98 for the most in program history, and needs two more to become the conference's all-time record holder. Fagbenle's honor also brings the Crimson's weekly award total to 15 on the year, matching the number put up by the 2009-10 Princeton squad for the most in league annals.
The London, England, native finished the week averaging 12.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg while shooting 73.3 percent from the field. On Friday, she registered her fifth double-double of the year with 17 points and 12 rebounds against Brown, and on Saturday she tallied eight points and five boards versus Yale.
Fagbenle currently ranks ninth in the Ivy League in scoring at 12.5 ppg and is fourth in rebounding at 7.6 rpg. She also leads the conference in field goal percentage (57.5) and is fourth in blocked shots (1.3).
Harvard has a big weekend coming up as the top two teams in the league visit Cambridge. The Crimson will host first-place Princeton Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. before welcoming second-place Penn to Lavietes Pavilion Saturday, March 2 at 6 p.m.
