CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Athletes from each of Harvard's 42 varsity teams are invited to compete in the fifth annual "Bench Press for Breast Cancer" competition on Thursday, May 2 at the Palmer Dixon Strength & Conditioning Center to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
The event will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. with the competition beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Prior to competition that is sponsored by Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Kathy Delaney-Smith, the head coach for Harvard women's basketball and a breast cancer survivor, will speak on the importance of raising money for cancer research.
Teams that wish to participate may enter up to three contestants who can each bench press as many reps as possible, but the entire time is encouraged to come and cheer on their teammates. Male athletes will bench press half of their body weight while the female athletes will bench press the bar.
