Incoming Harvard University and Radcliffe crew freshman Lucy Grinalds captured a gold medal at the 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships in Eton, England on Saturday.
The newly minted world champion was featured in a Q&A with World Rowing that can be read here.
Grinalds, a four-time junior national team member, helped the U.S. women's four win gold at Eton. The group led wire-to-wire in the final, holding off runner-up Great Britain by 1.76 seconds for a winning time of 6:48.77. Grinalds and two of her boatmates were silver medalists in in 2010, and the United States had not won the event since 2000.
