CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With a time of 16:41.930, the Radcliffe heavyweight eight set a course record at the 49th-annual Head of the Charles Regatta Saturday. Rowing the final split in a blistering 2:54.995, the squad defeated Brown (16:46.704) by nearly five seconds for the event win.
Coxed by Victoria Lellis, the squad rowed in bow No. 8. Emily Gaudiani rowed in the bow, followed by Kelsey Barolak, Sofia Jones, Ellie Parker, Tori Basedow, Abba Parker, Maura Church and Isabella Benduski.
In the championship event, the Black and White ranked seventh in a star-studded event, finishing with a time of 17:00.641. The Cambridge Boat Club took first in the event (15:59.549), followed by an USRowing boat. In the heavyweight boat was: Jenny Wong (cox), Mary Carmack, Deva Steketee, Mimi Tanski, Lauren Tracey, Frederika Archibald, Katie Wilcox, Elizabeth Fitzhenry and Jenna Gregoire.
Radcliffe's second varsity finished in 18:47.646 for 33rd place. In the championship fours, the Black and White boat took 16th overall with a time of 19:53.662.
