CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard-Radcliffe lightweight crew swept Georgetown Saturday afternoon on the Charles River.
The Black and White varsity eight started the day off, posting a time of 7:31.3 in a strong, cross headwind and head current. Radcliffe won by open water, as the Hoyas finished with a time of 8:05.2.
Radcliffe placed three teams in the varsity four event, with all three finishing ahead of the Hoyas. The 'B' squad – containing Andrea Linares, Serena Blacklow, Devi Lockwood, Katherine Fair and coxswain Samantha Guhan – earned the win with a time of 8:42.3. The 'A' squad was not far behind, as Elizabeth Wang, Taylor Garden, Elizabeth MacEachern,Ruby Emberling and cox Gabriella Giugliano crossed in 8:46.9.
Radcliffe will be back in action on the Charles April 19 and 20. The lights welcome a powerful lineup of teams – MIT, Stanford and Wisconsin – for the Lightweight Invitational, which will be streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network. Stanford and Wisconsin finished first and third, respectively, last year at the IRA National Championship. The Black and White will also race MIT in the Muri Cup Sunday.
