  • Written Senior Perspective: Brenna Nelsen
    June 10, 2015
Most people don’t come to New England to play golf. As a native Californian, I was often asked - and, indeed, at times asked myself that freshman year when my notion of “winter” was radically altered - why I chose to attend a school in Boston instead of picking a college in a more temperate, golf-friendly climate.

Just having played two golf tournaments the past few weeks in Mississippi and California, the women’s golf team is back in Cambridge gearing up for Ivy Championships next week. We also have all been doing a wonderful job keeping up with our academic work (sometimes even getting ahead) as problem sets, papers, and second round midterms come around.
  • Women's Golf Closes Strong for Fourth-Place Finish at Silverado Showdown
    April 13, 2015
The women of Harvard women’s golf team (HWG) spent the weekend competing at the Silverado Showdown, graciously hosted by University of Colorado and University of Oregon. The event gets its name from the host -- Silverado Country Club -- which is outlined by the vast vineyards that make Napa so intriguing. The women were grinning ear to ear in escaping the Northeast “spring” for a few days.
  • Women's Golf Opens Spring Slate at Rebel Intercollegiate
    April 03, 2015
Coming off a productive spring break trip to Northern California less than two weeks prior, the Harvard women’s golf team flew south for the (tail end of) winter to compete in the 2015 Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate. While Harvard was excited about the prospect of testing itself against some of the best teams in the south, the Crimson entered this year’s Rebel Intercollegiate with fewer reps than in years prior. After a historic Boston winter, the team had been limited to indoor practice sessions leading up to the event, as almost all golf courses in the greater Boston area remain closed. The team members would use this tournament as an invaluable opportunity to work hard and sharpen their games over the course of the 54-hole event.

  • Women's Golf Opens With Second-Place Result at Yale Invitational
    September 26, 2014
The Harvard women’s golf (HWG) team opened its long-awaited season at the Yale Invitational hosted by Yale University. Because team members pursued their professional and personal goals outside of golf during the summer, the team members were not in a position to play tournament golf and work on their games – a stark contrast to most top Division I college golfers.
