CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After scoring four goals
last weekend, including three at No. 6 Clarkson Saturday, senior
forward Randi Griffin of the fifth-ranked Harvard women’s
hockey team has been honored as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week,
the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Griffin, who is tied for third on the Crimson with a career-high
18 points on nine goals and nine assists this season, netted the
game-winning goal in Harvard’s 2-1 win at St. Lawrence
Friday. She capitalized on a penalty shot with only 25 seconds
remaining in regulation to break a 1-1 tie.
On the following afternoon, Griffin had a career day, earning a
natural hat trick by notching three straight goals in the second
period. Griffin put Harvard on the scoreboard with a power-play
tally at 6:10 before tying the game, 2-2, with her second goal at
8:23. With 3:43 remaining in the second stanza, Griffin completed
her hat trick, netting her third goal in just over 10 minutes.
Griffin and the Crimson finished third in the ECAC Hockey
standings and will host No. 6 seed Princeton in a best-of-three
quarterfinal series at Bright Hockey Center Feb. 26-28. Game 1 is
slated for Friday at 7 p.m.
