ECAC Hockey women's preseason coaches poll
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite graduating a sextet of
seniors from the 2010-11 squad, the Harvard women’s
hockey team is picked to finish second in ECAC Hockey, according to
the coaches poll released by the league Thursday. Harvard is one of
only two teams to eclipse 100 points in the poll, which features
last year’s semifinalists in the top four spots.
Two-time defending league champion Cornell topped the rankings, collecting 121 total points and 11 first-place nods. Harvard amassed 105 points in the poll, comfortably ahead of Quinnipiac’s 93 and one first-place vote. Dartmouth ranked fourth with 91 points, followed by Clarkson (82) and St. Lawrence (70).
Princeton occupied the seventh spot with 68 points and Rensselaer followed with 51. Colgate earned 41 points for a No. 9 placement, followed by Yale (36), Brown (22) and Union (12).
Harvard kicks off its 2011-12 schedule on the road against St. Lawrence Oct. 28.
