CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Three current and two former Harvard women's hockey players have been selected to take part in the 2012 U.S. Women's National Team Winter Camp, USA Hockey announced. The camp will be held Dec. 26-31 in Blaine, Minn.
Senior Jillian Dempsey, junior Lyndsey Fry, sophomore Michelle Picard and Caitlin Cahow '06-08 will all play for Team White during three games at the camp, while Julie Chu '06-07 will suit up for Team Blue. The six-day session will also feature two days of physical fitness testing and three days of practice.
Katey Stone, who doubles as the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Ice Hockey and the head coach for Team USA, will run the camp.
"This camp is a critical step in our player evaluation process as we look ahead to the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship," said Reagan Carey, USA Hockey's director of women's hockey. "It's an extremely competitive camp that allows our top 36 players to compete at the highest level."
Picard, Dempsey and Chu were all on last year's IIHF Women's World Championship squad that took home a silver medal. Fry is no stranger to USA Hockey, either, as she was on the team that won the Four Nations Cup Nov. 10 along with Picard and Chu.
Including the three Crimson skaters, six current ECAC Hockey players made the list of 36 invitees. Other ECAC members at the camp will be Kelly Babstock of Quinnipiac, Jordan Smelker of Rensselaer and Alyssa Gagliardi of Cornell.
