National Festival (Gil Talbot).
BLAINE, Minn. – The Harvard women’s hockey team will be well represented at the 2012 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival Aug. 5-19. Six current and former Crimson skaters will be in attendance during the two-week event, the most of any ECAC Hockey school.
Julie Chu ’06-07 headlines the sextet as the most experienced skater in the group, having played for three Olympic teams. 2012-13 captains Jillian Dempsey and Josephine Pucci front the group of current players in attendance, while rising juniors Lyndsey Fry and Marissa Gedman will also be in attendance. Rising sophomore Michelle Picard rounds out the group at the National Festival after representing Team USA at the 2012 IIHF Women’s World Championship in April.
The first two days of the festival are just for goalies as the full squad practices for the first time Aug. 7. The festival culminates with the selection of U-18 and U-22 teams to take on Canada in a series of games.
