Maschmeyer, Edney Named to 2013-14 New England All-Star Team

BOSTON – Sophomore goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer and junior defenseman Sarah Edney have been named to the New England All-Star team, the New England Hockey Writers Association announced on Wednesday.

Maschmeyer, who also was an tabbed a Second Team All-American and a Patty Kazmaier Award Top-10 Finalist, was voted one of the two best netminders in the region, while Edney, a second team All-ECAC blue liner, was selected as one of the best defenders to play in New England. Together, Maschmeyer and Endey were two of four ECAC honorees to earn spots on the All-Start team, including Quinnipiac's Kelly Babstock and Yale's Phoebe Staenz.

Maschmeyer finished the season in the ECAC's top five in saves (796), save percentage (.943) and goals against average (1.76), making her one of the stingiest backstoppers in the country. Edney enjoyed a stellar year as one of the Crimson's top defensemen, leading the team with 89 blocks. The Mississauga, Ontario, native added 25 points offensively, tallying seven goals and 18 assists on the season, sixth-best in the conference.
