Former Harvard women's hockey standout goalie Laura Bellamy '13 will serve as an assistant coach for the Crimson for the 2013-14 season. Bellamy joins interim head coach Maura Crowell's staff during the absence of Katey Stone, who will coach the USA Hockey Women's National Team at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Bellamy graduated from Harvard in May 2013 as one of the top goaltenders in Crimson history. She led Harvard to two NCAA tournament appearances, the 2013 Ivy League title and a 60-25-7 record during her time in Cambridge.
The Duluth, Minn., ranks as Harvard's single-season leader in goals-against average with a 0.92 mark in 2012-13 and is No. 2 on the Crimson's all-time charts with 19 career shutouts.
An ECAC Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year nominee in 2012, Bellamy earned a History and Science degree from Harvard.
Bellamy also displayed exceptional leadership abilities within the women's hockey program and in the Cambridge community during her four years. Bellamy, who was a co-captain during the 2012-13 season, volunteered for numerous programs around the area. She contributed to such activities as the Cambridge After School Program, Harvard Peer Advising Fellows and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
