Patricia Sutton joined the Harvard women's lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2013. Sutton, a standout lacrosse player at the College of the Holy Cross, came to Cambridge after most recently serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater.
In her third season at Harvard, the Crimson finished 9-7 overall and 4-3 in the Ivy League, earning a third-straight trip to the Ivy League tournament. Three student-athletes received All-Ivy first-team honors and seven players overall garnered all-conference accolades.
In 2015, Harvard reached the Ivy League tournament for the second-straight season, as the sqad finished 4-3 in the Ancient Eight and 8-8 overall. Five players earned All-Ivy honors, including three on the first team.
In her first year with the Crimson in 2014, Harvard went 9-7 overall and finished 4-3 in Ancient Eight games. The squad advanced to the Ivy tournament for the first time since 2012, and four players earned sports on the All-Ivy team.
During her time at Holy Cross, she assisted running practice, game planning, recruiting and travel accommodations. In her second season, Sutton led the Crusaders to a 10-8 overall and 4-2 in the Patriot League mark, which was the best record since 2007. In 2013, Sutton helped the team advanced to the Patriot League championship for the second consecutive season and the sixth time in program history.
The Boston, Mass., native began her coaching career as an assistant at the University of Albany.
While at Albany, she helped her team finish with a winning record for the first time since 2000, broke the school record for most Division I wins in a season, and had four players earn all-conference honors. During the 2009-10 season, Sutton led the Great Danes to the program's first-ever conference regular season title, an undefeated mark in America East regular-season play and earned a No. 19 ranking by IWLCA and a No. 17 ranking by Inside Lacrosse, which was the first time in program history the Great Danes had been nationally ranked.
Sutton was a decorated athlete at the College of the Holy Cross. She was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2003 and the Player of the Year in 2007. She earned Northeast Region second-team All-America accolades, was named to the Patriot League first team three times and currently is Holy Cross's all-time leading goal and point scorer with 291 career points (215 goals, 76 assists). Sutton was named the team captain as a senior and also won the 2007 Crusader of the Year award.
Sutton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology.
