Keith, Peppelman Come Up With Big Wins in Duals Against Columbia, No. 1 Cornell

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Steven Keith and Walter Peppelman both won their matches as the Harvard wrestling team lost its final two duals of the season to Columbia, 32-7 and No. 1 Cornell, 40-9. The Crimson scored nine team points against the Big Red equaled the most points an Ivy team has scored against the nation's No. 1 team.
Sixth-ranked Walter Peppelman came up with a big win by fall over No. 11 DJ Meagher at 157 pounds. Peppelman's pin came with a 3-1 lead in the final period. Meagher scored his point on a locked hand call on the Crimson grapplers. Peppelman earned a 1-0 decision against Columbia. He is 26-4 overall on the season.
Keith upset No. 10 Frank Perrelli at 125 pound, 4-3, in two tiebreakers. Keith held a 3-1 lead heading into the final period but was taken down in the third to head to the extra sessions. Keith escaped in the second tiebreakers stanza to earn the victory.
The Crimson has one week off to prepare for championships season. Harvard travels to the EIWA Championships March 5-6 at Bucknell.
