WALES - Harvard University freshman Lizzie Durack will start in goal for the U19 England National Team as they face France in the UEFA Championship final on Saturday, August 31. The Sydney, Australia native has played every minute of the tournament and has recorded a shutout in each of the four matches.
This is the fourth time in the past seven years that England has advanced to the final round of the tournament. England faced France in the first round of the tournament. With just a few minutes remaining in the second half, Durack stopped a penalty shot to prevent France from taking the game. France outshot England 11-3, but Durack kept her team alive tallying 11 saves in the draw.
England went on to defeat Wales in the second round, 3-0, as Durack stopped 12 shots in the win. England moved into the third round to race past Denmark 3-0 and secure a first-place standing in Group A. Durack recorded 13 saves in the match.
In the semi-finals, Durack grabbed seven saves as England defeated Finland, 4-0, to advance to the championship match. England will face France in the title match on Saturday at the Parc y Scarlets stadium in Llanelli.
