Seniors picked to lead defending Ivy League champions.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Rising seniors Meg Casscells-Hamby and Marie Margolius have been named co-captains for the 2014 Harvard women's soccer season, head coach Ray Leone announced. The pair was selected after a vote by their teammates.
Casscells-Hamby, a NSCAA All-Region third team honoree, posted seven points off two goals and three assists in 16 games started this season. The midfielder was also named to the All-Ivy second team after helping the Harvard defense to 0.81 goals against average.
Margolius found her offensive groove this season, ranking fourth on the team with nine points – the first tallies of her career. Margolius posted four goals and added an assist through 18 games played. The midfielder from Acton, Mass., was tabbed an All-Ivy League honorable mention for her efforts in 2013.
The duo will help Harvard with its 2014 Ivy League title defense, as the Crimson posted a 12-4-2 season, including a perfect 7-0 mark in Ancient Eight play and the program's 11th conference title.
