    Written Senior Perspectives: Marie Margolius I hung up the phone with the Harvard women’s soccer coach, Ray Leone, choked back my tears of joy, stepped out of my bedroom, and told my Dad: “I think I’m going to Harvard.” My dad, a man who I had never seen cry, wasn’t quite as successful at holding back his tears. Months later, when I received my official acceptance into Harvard, I could finally stop holding my breath. I was granted the opportunity of a lifetime – the chance that so many kids dream about, and I was lucky enough to get that chance.

    Sophie Legros ’12 to Speak at Women’s World Cup Former Harvard women’s soccer player Sophie Legros ’12 will speak at the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada. The Brussels native will be presenting the Coaches Across Countinents’ ASK for Choice program as part of the Girls Power in Play Symposium taking place in Ottawa June 18-19.

    Written Senior Perspective: Laura Aguilar Team meeting. Junior year. When asked to reflect on my time as a student-athlete at Harvard, my mind immediately went there. That particular day our coach, Ray Leone, switched up his traditional motivational appeals to something he thought could speak to the “Harvard” in all of us. Instead of quoting a famous athlete or showing an inspirational video montage, he cited research by Angela Duckworth, a MacArthur Genius Grant winner and psychologist at the University of Pennsylvania. She had a theory for the key to success.

    Harvard Varsity Club Celebrates the Class of 2015 at Annual Senior Letterwinners' Dinner Harvard Athletics and the Harvard Varsity Club celebrated the Class of 2015 Wednesday night at the annual Senior Letterwinners’ Dinner, held on the Murr Center Indoor Tennis Courts. A record crowd of more than 900 guests was in attendance to honor both the athletic and academic accomplishments of this year’s graduating student-athletes.

    Purce, USA Head to U-23 Four Nations Tournament Harvard’s Margaret Purce has been named to the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team roster that will travel to Norway this week to compete in the Four Nations Tournament (May 27-31). Purce and the American’s will take on the likes of England, Sweden and Norway, the host country.

    Harvard Women's Soccer Hands Out Team Awards The Harvard women's soccer team recently held its annual banquet, as the squad celebrated the 2014 season. The Crimson posted its eighth straight winning season, going 11-5-2 overall, and its second consecutive Ivy League championship, while owning a 5-1-1 conference mark.

    Women's Soccer's Season Comes to a Close Versus No. 1 UCLA The Harvard women’s soccer team – tasked with facing the No. 1 team and defending national champion in the second round of the NCAA Tournament – gave its all but fell to UCLA at Drake Stadium, 7-0. The Crimson (11-5-2) finishes its successful season, while the Bruins (20-0-2) continue on to the third round versus Pepperdine Sunday.

    Women's Soccer Treks to No. 1 UCLA For NCAA Second Round Following its thorough 6-0 victory over Central Connecticut State on Saturday, the Harvard women’s soccer team is geared up to face the No. 1 team in the nation in the NCAA Tournament second round this weekend. The Ivy League champion Crimson (11-4-1, 5-1-1) has the test of facing unbeaten, defending national champion UCLA (19-0-2, 10-0-1) in Los Angeles. The two clubs will kick off at 8 p.m. local time, 11 p.m. on the east coast. This is the first meeting between the two programs.

    Women's Soccer Hosts Central Connecticut St. in NCAA First Round Advancing to its 15th NCAA tournament in program history, the Ivy League champion Harvard women’s soccer team plays host to Central Connecticut St. Saturday for a 1 p.m. match at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.

    Seven Crimson Pick Up All-Ivy Honors; Stollar Rookie of the Year, Leone Coach of the Year Following its Ancient Eight crown, the Harvard women’s soccer team placed seven student-athletes on three All-Ivy League teams, the conference announced Tuesday. Dani Stollar was named the League’s Rookie of the Year, while head coach Ray Leone, now in his eighth season at the helm, was honored as the Ivy League Coach of the Year as his Crimson finished 10-4-2 (5-1-1 Ivy), and advanced to host an NCAA Tournament’s first round matchup.

    Two-Goal Effort Earns Purce Ivy League Player of the Week Nod CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Margaret Purce was named the Ivy League Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday, the cherry on top of a 2-1 victory over Columbia which clinched the Harvard women’s soccer team’s second straight Ivy League title on Saturday. Purce tallied both of the scores, marking the third time in 2014 and fifth time in her career the Olney, Maryland, native found the back of the net at least twice in a contest. On her first tally, Purce was on the receiving end of a great run and cross from Emily Mosbacher. Purce was able to one-time a shot in the six to sneak by Columbia’s keeper to make it 1-0 in the first half. From there, Bethany Kanten took a free kick, which Purce headed and bent directly to the back post to vault the Crimson to its final 2-1 score. Purce and the Crimson will play on as Harvard drew an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament with the Ancient Eight crown.
