Margolius tallied four goals and 10 points in her Harvard career on the back line (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Competing for Ope IF and training with Östersund DFF (ÖDFF) in Sweden, Marie Margolius '15 is taking advantage of her opportunity to continue her soccer career.
Margolius spent her senior season in Crimson in 2014-15, starting along the back line for a team that won its second-straight Ivy Championship and appeared in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A team captain for Harvard, the Acton, Massachusetts native tallied four goals and 10 points during her collegiate career.
In Sweden, Margolius began training with ÖDFF in the Swedish Elitettan before joining Ope IF in Division 2-Mellersta Norland for the final six games of the season. Playing for Ope IF, she led the team with two goals and four assists over the final stretch.
"There are so many places for young women to play for as long as they want in varying competitive leagues here. It's really amazing," said Margolius. "I wasn't ready to stop playing, and I can say with confidence that continuing to play was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I have made."
Ope IF wound up second in Division 2- Mellersta Norrland with 37 points while ÖDFF finished eighth in the Elitettan table with 28 points. The Swedish professional season starts up again in April, 2016.
