No. 1 Women's Squash Extends Win Streak to 21, Beats No. 3 Trinity, 7-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 1 Harvard women’s squash team kept its perfect season intact, downing No. 3 Trinity 7-2 Wednesday night. Harvard hosts Yale Saturday in the final regular season match of the season. The Ivy League championship and a perfect regular season will be on the line for the Crimson.

Using a three-court system the Bantams jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, winning the No. 3 and 9 matches. Jenn Pelletier beat Harvard’s Alisha Mashruwala in a five-set thriller, while Robyn Williams defeated Alexandra Zindman in four sets. Cece Cortes tallied Harvard’s first point in the No. 6 match over Alicia Rodriguez, 11-8, 17-15, 11-9.

Harvard would blow through the rest of the match though, taking the remaining six matches. The Crimson lost only one set the rest of the way. Laura Gemmell faltered in the second set of the No. 1 match, but recovered and won in four sets over Catalina Pelaez, 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9.

Nirasha Guruge, June Tiong, Natasha Kingshott, Sarah Mumanachit and Bethan Williams all went on to sweep their respective opponents and give Harvard the 7-2 victory.

Yale will travel Cambridge to take on the Crimson Saturday in a battle of the top Ivy teams. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
