Laura Gemmell will play for her second-straight national championship Sunday (Gil Talbot).
HANOVER, N.H. – Harvard's Laura Gemmell will play for her second straight individual national championship, and Ramsay Cup, Sunday after picking up two more wins Saturday. Gemmell will take on Millie Tomlinson Sunday at Dartmouth at 12:30 p.m. for the title.
Gemmell reached the finals after completing two sweeps. Pamela Chua was first to go down Saturday to Gemmell in the quarterfinals. Julie Cerullo was not much of a challenge for Gemmell in the semifinals, falling 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.
An all Harvard final came up just short as Nirasha Guruge fell to Tomlinson in the other semifinal match. Guruge defeated Logan Greer of Yale in the quarterfinals, 3-2, after dropping the first two sets to advance to the semifinals.
Two Crimson will meet in the first consolation final, as Natasha Kingshott and Cece Cortes will go head-to-head in the final Sunday. Kingshott downed teammate June Tiong and C. Parris, while Cortes defeated Hannah Conant and P. Trikha to reach the finals.
