Comeback Over No. 2 Yale Gives No. 1 Harvard Women’s Squash Ivy Crown

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After trailing 4-2, the No. 1 Harvard women's squash team stormed back to win the last three matches and take down No. 2 Yale to finish the regular season with a perfect 15-0 mark and capture its 18th Ivy League championship Sunday in New Haven, Conn.

When the contest became tied 4-4, Haley Mendez (13-1) was left on the court for Harvard (15-0, 7-0 Ivy League) against Alexandra Van Arkel of Yale (15-1, 6-1 Ivy League) in the No. 4 position. The Crimson's freshman clinched the Ivy title with two extra point wins during a 3-0 (11-5, 12-10, 12-10) clean sheet victory.

Harvard was efficient in the top four spots, winning two other matches besides Mendez. Amanda Sobhy (7-0), another freshman, dominated Millie Tomlinson, 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-5), while senior co-captain Nirasha Guruge (10-1) defeated Rhetta Nadas, 3-1 (7-11, 11-2, 11-3, 13-11) after dropping the first game.
