No. 2 Women's Squash Sweeps Away Columbia, 9-0

Michelle Gemmell earned her fourth win at No. 3 on the ladder Saturday (Gil Talbot). 

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 2 Harvard women's squash team breezed past Columbia, 9-0, Saturday afternoon at the Murr Center.

The Crimson swept all nine matches by 3-0 margins to knock off the Lions for the second straight year.

Harvard No. 1 Laura Gemmell earned her 31st career win atop the ladder by besting Catherine Jenkins, 11-1, 11-0, 11-3, to improve to 7-0 on the season. Her younger sister, Michelle, earned her fourth win at the third position with an 11-4, 11-7, 11-2 win over Alisha Maity.

Senior co-captain Natasha Kingshott earned her team-leading eighth win at No. 5 for the Crimson, edging Leah Barnet, 11-3, 11-4, 11-2, while No. 9 Eliza Calihan, No. 8 Megan Murray and No. 7 Isabelle Dowling all earned their seventh victory of the season.

Harvard returns to action against Cornell Sunday at noon.
