Women's Squash Chosen First in Preseason Poll

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming off a second consecutive national championship and the third in the past four years, the Harvard women's squash team has been selected as the No. 1 team in the country in the Dunlop 2013-14 Women's College Squash Preseason Team Rankings for the fourth consecutive season.

Harvard returns 12 student-athletes from last year's national title team that posted a 15-1 mark to clinch both the Ivy League and Howe Cup. Amanda Sobhy, the individual national champion and Ivy League Player of the Year will return for her third season after coming off a successful Women's Squash Association summer schedule claiming three consecutive titles. Sobhy is joined by fellow first team All-American Haley Mendez, the 2012-13 Harrow Sports Howe Cup Player of the Tournament and second team All-American Michelle Gemmell who posted a 12-5 record as a rookie.

The Crimson also welcome four new student-athletes to the 2013-14 squad. Emily Jones, Dileas MacGowan, Caroline Monrad and Katherine Tutrone make up the class of 2017.

Harvard kicks off its season on Dec. 3 at Yale before welcoming Drexel and Boston College to the Murr Center on Dec. 6.
