CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-Co-captain Alexandra Clarke celebrated Senior Day by winning two races to help the Harvard women's swimming and diving team sweep all 13 events and defeat Brown, 177-66, Saturday at Blodgett Pool in the final Ivy League home dual meet for Clarke and her four fellow seniors.
Katy Hinkle led Harvard (5-0, 5-0 Ivy League) with three event wins, while Kate Mills had two individual victories and Ellie Johnson contributed to a pair of relay wins. Hinkle won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.92 seconds and led off the winning 200 medley (1:47.30) and 200 free relay (1:36.67) squads. Johnson also swam on both winning teams. Mackenzie Luick and Caroline Weaver contributed to the medley win, while Kelly Robinson and Alicia Lightbourne rounded out the top free relay entry. Mills won the 200 free in 1:51.20 and the 400 individual medley in 4:22.96.
Clarke, who was honored before the meet along with classmates, Katie Faulkner, Natalia Festa, Kay Foley and Sophie Morgan, led Harvard's sweep of the top four places in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:01.63. Clarke later showed her versatility with a win in the 100 butterfly in 57.21. Morgan, Festa, Faulkner and Clarke finished their home Ivy dual careers together, forming an entry in the day's final event, the 200 free relay.
The diving winners were Jenny Reese in the three-meter with 293.70 points and Leslie Rea in the one-meter with 276.30. The three-meter dive was another top-four sweep by the Crimson. Juniors Holly Furman and Christine Kaufmann won the 100 and 500 freestyles in times of 53.08 and 5:04.58, respectively. Sophomore Meghan Leddy also posted a victory, taking the 100 backstroke in 59:09.
