Women's Swimming and Diving Downs Brown, 198-97

Kate Mills captured two events against the Bears (David Silverman).

SEEKONK, Mass. –
The Harvard women's swimming team captured all but one event, starting the 2011 schedule with a 198-97 win over Brown Friday night at Seekonk High School.

The Crimson wasted little time getting going against the Bears, taking the top three spots in the 400-yard medley relay, led by the top team of Meghan Leddy, Ali Lightbourne, Kelly Robinson and Jenna Gregoire which registered a time of 3:55.32. Kate Mills fronted a trio of Harvard swimmers in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:20.96 and Sara Li took the 200 freestyle in 1:52.39.

Katy Hinkle kept the ball rolling with a win in the 100 backstroke in 57.79 and Laura Evans followed with a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.04. Danielle Schulkin was victorious in the 200 butterfly with a 2:02.21 mark, Ali Slack took the 50 free in 24.31 and Evans followed with her second event win, taking the 100 free in 52.43. Paige Newell was Harvard's next winner, capturing the 200 backstroke in 2:03.91 and Kristin Korsberg took the 500 free in 4:59.86.

Mills earned her second event win in the 100 fly with a time of 56.13 to wrap up the swimming events for Harvard. The Crimson owned the diving events at the meet with Schuyler Moore taking the one-meter event and Leslie Rea capturing the three-meter competition.

Harvard is back in action next weekend at the World College Conference Carnival in New Brunswick, N.J. Jan. 21-22.
