27 current, former and future Crimson swimmers will compete at the 2012 Olympic Team Trials.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard will be well represented at next week's 2012 Olympic Team Trials – Swimming as 13 current student-athletes and eight incoming freshman compete for a trip to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Regarded as one of the fastest, exciting, suspenseful and pressure-filled competitions held in the United States every four years, the 2012 Olympic Team Trials – Swimming will take place 25 – July 2 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. Preliminary heats will begin at 11 a.m. each morning with finals slated to begin at 7:45 p.m. All sessions of the meet will be broadcast live on the NBC family of networks. Eight current members of the men's swimming team are scheduled to be in action next week, led by four-time Ivy League Champion Chris Satterthwaite. The rising junior won the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and was a member of the winning 400 free relay team at Ivies this year, and set the school record in the 50 and 100 free in the process. He will be joined by classmates Spenser Goodman and Oliver Lee, along with rising sophomores Mike Gaudiani, Chuck Katis, Griffin Schumacher, Reed Snyder and Zach Walters.
On the women's side, rising sophomores Kelsey Hojan-Clark and Courtney Otto highlight a contingent of five current Crimson who will compete in Omaha. Hojan-Clark won a pair of Ivy League Championships in the 1,000 and 1,650 free as a freshman, while Otto claimed the 400 IM title and was a member of the winning 800 free relay team at Ivies. The pair will be joined by rising senior Mackenzie Luick, rising junior Danielle Schulkin and rising sophomore Faith Martin.
Harvard also boasts a group of eight incoming freshmen who will be in Omaha, including Christian Carbone, Steven Kekacs, Jacob Luna, Tyler Rocca and Christian Yeager for the men, and Kendall Crawford, Connie Hsu and Margaret Ramsey for the women. Additionally, alums Megan Leddy '12, Niall Janney '12, Alex Meyer '10, Hilary Roberts '12 and Catherine Zagroba '12 will be in action as well.
