Women’s Tennis Unable to Break No. 26 Northwestern

Lee tallied the sole Crimson victory against #104 Maddie Lipp (Zack Williamson).

Evanston, Ill. – Despite a win from June Lee at the No. 1 spot, Harvard women's tennis (0-1) could not overcome No. 26 Northwestern (3-0), falling 6-1 at the Combe Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

Lee earned the Crimson's sole singles victory against #104 Maddie Lipp, 6-1, 6-3, in the first position. Jenna Friedel competed for Harvard at the No. 2 slot, nearly taking the first set, but unable to win the tie-breaker, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Annika Ringblom saw action in the third position, facing Rheeya Doshi, and dropping a 7-6 (3), 6-1 decision. 

Sabrina Xiong and Annika Ringblom were down just a point, 4-3, before the Wildcats took the doubles point. The Crimson sent Erica Oosterhout and Lee to compete against #6 Alex Chatt and Lipp in the first doubles slot, falling, 6-2. Lexi Milunovich and Jenna Friedel faced #24 Erin Larner and Lee Or in the second slot, unable to overcome the ranked pair, 6-1.

Harvard will travel to DePaul University tomorrow to face the Blue Demons at 2 p.m. in the Lakeshore Sports & Fitness Center.
