Women’s Tennis Bests Boston University, 6-1

Friedel downed Remi Ramos 6-2, 6-2 (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team went head-to-head with Boston University on Saturday morning at the Murr Tennis Courts. The Crimson (5-5) downed the Terriers (3-4), 6-1.

Harvard started off the morning with a trio of wins against the Terriers in doubles. Erica Oosterhout and June Lee clinched their eighth win of the year, downing Iryna Kostirko and Sabrina Faybyshev, 6-3. Annika Ringblom and Sabrina Xiong stepped up in the second slot, adding a 6-3 win over Remi Ramos and Barbara Rodriguez. Nastasha Gonzalez and Irene Lu notched their sixth win as a pair, recording a 6-2 mark against Lily O'Fagen and Madison Craft.

Oosterhout pushed her singles win streak to five games after battling with Kostirko in the first position. Oosterhout swept the first set, 6-0, and earned a score of 6-3 in the second set. Lee faced Rodriquez in the second slot, finishing with a 6-1, 6-0 mark to finalize the point.  Jenna Friedel earned her first win in the third position against Ramos, tallying a pair of 6-2 decisions.

Irene Lu faced Faybayshev in the fourth slot, taking the first set 6-2. Faybayshev faught back in the second set, winning 7-6, but Lu took the tiebreaker 10-4. Lu leads the Crimson with a 12-10 overall record, including a 7-2 mark in the last 10 matches.

Sabrina Xiong earned her first win in the sixth position, facing off against Kryloft. Xiong took the first set 6-2 and won the second set with a 6-4 tally.

Harvard will continue its 10-game home stay, hosting St. John's and Bryant on March 4 and Stony Brook and Providence on March 11. The matches will be streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network.
