Women’s Tennis Remains Undefeated in Ivy League Play

June Lee clinched the match point for the Crimson with a win against Alyza Benotto (Gil Talbot).

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island -  The women's tennis team clinched its second Ivy League win on Friday against Brown. The Crimson snuck past the Bears, 4-3, with senior June Lee clinching the match point.

Harvard sent Lexi Milunovich and Natasha Gonzalez to compete in the second slot for the Crimson in doubles. The freshman duo earned a 6-3 win against Mariska Chamdani and Juliana Simon. Sabrina Xiong and Annika Ringblom saw action in the third position against Maddie Stearns and Devon Jack, clinching the doubles point for the Crimson with a 6-3 win. June Lee and Erica Oosterhout were unable to finish their set against Danya Lord and Alyza Benotto in the first position.
 
In singles action, Oosterhout competed in the first positon against Lord. Oosterhout downed Lord in two sets, 6-1, 7-5. Lee saw action in the second position against Benotto. Lee kept her streak alive, clinching her ninth-consecutive win and 20th win of the season. The senior captain boasts a 20-13 overall record this season. Milunovich saw action in the third slot, but was unable to gain the point against Stearns. Irene Lu faced Jack in the fourth position, earning her 17th overall win this season with a 6-2, 6-4 score. Although Ringblom took the second set against Katie Ta, the junior could not earn the set point, falling 10-7 in the third set. Gonzalez saw action in the sixth position, going head-to-head with Taylor Cosme. Gonzalez was unable to get the set point, falling 7-5, 6-4.
 
Harvard will return to action this Sunday, April 9 against Yale. The dual is set to begin at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network.
