CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Jeffrey Aucoin has been named a coaching assistant for both the Harvard men's and women's volleyball teams, filling a newly created position that will serve both programs.
"This is a very exciting time for Harvard volleyball," commented Jennifer Weiss, head coach of women's volleyball. "Jeff is the perfect fit for this position. He has diverse experience both as a coach and as a player, and will challenge our student-athletes on the court. Jeff will bring passion and a strong work ethic to the gym and I look forward to having him join our staff."
Aucoin comes to Cambridge after spending last season as an assistant coach at the University of New Hampshire. There he was responsible for film editing and exchange, opponent scouting reports, and worked on the court with the Wildcats' blocking, serve receive and defense. Aucoin also handled game day management, organized team travel and assisted with recruiting. UNH saw a dramatic increase in its digs per set average with Aucoin on staff and earned a berth to the America East Tournament.
"Jeff is going to play a pivotal role for us as we work to improve and strengthen our program in the years ahead," said Brian Baise, head coach of men's volleyball. "He is multi-talented and his diverse experience will make him a very valuable addition to both coaching staffs. We are fortunate to have Jeff joining us this summer."
Aucoin began his coaching career as a student assistant at UNH editing film, scouting opponents and compiling post-game statistics. He also assisted with team travel as an undergraduate and was involved with on-court instruction. Aucoin served as the tournament director for the 2009 and 2010 UNH Wildcat Volleyball Invitational , and founded UNH's women's club volleyball team in 2010. He has also spent time working at various camps during the summer months, including the 2011 Butler University and Ball State University camps. In 2012 he was the recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches for Coaches Scholarship.
Aucoin was also a four-year member of the UNH men's club volleyball team and served as club president and student leader from 2009-11. He was named tournament MVP after helping lead the Wildcats to the 2011 NCVF Division I-AA National Championship and was a four-year NECVL Regional All-Tournament Team selection.
Aucoin graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology focusing in sports studies. In 2013 he earned his master's degree in physical education and sport from Ball State University where he was a MIVA Academic All-Conference selection as a member of the Cardinals' Div.
