Women's Water Polo Set to Tour Golden State

The Particulars:
The Harvard women's water polo team travels to California for a week-long trip. The Crimson will play six matches in the seven-day span.

Last Time Out:
Harvard claimed seventh-place at the Elite Eight tournament with a 13-12 overtime win over Bucknell. Devan Kennifer tallied six goals in the game, including both of the Crimson's overtime goals. Lizzie Abbott and Aisha Price each scored twice in the contest. Kelly Peeler, Shannon Purcell and Patricia Smith rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Laurel McCarthy made seven saves to help the Crimson earn its eighth win of the season.

About Harvard:
The Crimson enters the week with an 8-5 record on the year. Devan Kennifer, the CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week, leads the squad with 42 goals scored. Laurel McCarthy has played in every match for Harvard and has made 97 saves on the year. Monica Zdrojewski has netted 25 goals this season.

Sizing Up the Competition:
Harvard will take on four ranked opponents on the west coast. The Crimson's first opponent is Fresno Pacific, who is 3-15 on the season. UC-Davis comes into the week ranked No. 15 in the Collegiate Water Polo Assocation national poll with a 9-10 record. San Jose St. owns a 11-8 record and is the seventh-ranked team nationally. Cal State East Bay is the No. 19 team in the country and sports a 15-6 mark on the year. Pacific boasts a 14-4 record and a No. 17 national ranking. Cal State Monterey Bay comes into the week with an overall record of 6-16.

Coming Attractions:
The Crimson takes on Marist in the team's final non-conference match of the season. CWPA Northern Division action kicks off April 7 as Harvard faces Brown in its first home match in two months.
