ONEONTA, N.Y. – For the first time this season the Harvard women's water polo team was held to a single-digit goals output as host Hartwick sent the Crimson to its second straight defeat with a 20-5 win Monday.
Harvard (6-2) got goals from Monica Zdrojewski (2), Christy DiSilvestro, Elise Molnar and Aisha Price. Riley Kessler added three assists and the defense came up with 10 steals, led by Devan Kennifer's four takeaways.
The Hawks jumped out to a 7-0 first period lead. Harvard matched its opponent goal for goal in the second frame to trail, 11-4, at halftime, but Hartwick would outscore the Crimson, 9-1, in the second half to put the game out of reach.
The Crimson begins Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division play at 8 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Brown at Blodgett Pool.
