The Crimson and the Poets battled to a 3-3 tie through the first quarter. After trading goals, the Poets came away with a one-goal lead at the break.
In the third stanza, Harvard and Whittier were evenly matched as each squad found the back of the net twice. The fourth quarter proved to be the difference as the Poets buried two goals and denied the Crimson any opportunity to cut the deficit.
Shayna Price tallied her eighth hat trick of the season, while Alexis Del Toro and Yoshi Andersen each added two scores a piece. Melissa Balding and Michelle Martinelli both found the back of the net once.
Andersen, Charlotte Hendrix and Victoria Frager registered two thefts each, while Ariel Dukes made three saves in net for the Crimson.
In the final game, Harvard started out slow before turning on the gas en route to victory over Pomona Pitzer. Trailing by two scores, the Crimson recorded three goals while limiting the Sagehens to just a single tally at the end of the first half.
Harvard roared out of the gates in the third stanza to bury six goals and take a commanding, 10-6, lead. The Crimson tacked on another goal in the final eight minutes and secure the win.
Hendrix headlined the Crimson offense that saw six different players find the back of the net. Hendrix registered three goals, while Price, Martinelli, and Rachel Lobato each added two goals. Balding and Frager also tallied a score.
Defensively, Frager had five thefts while Ariel Dukes made eight saves in the win.
Harvard returns to the pool Thursday, March 20 to take on Cal State Northridge and Cal Lutheran. The games are slated for 5 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. respectively.
