    Ted Minnis, The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach, has been appointed as a member of the Team USA Men’s National Team coaching staff for the 2017 FINA World Championships held in Budapest, Hungary July 14-30.

    Junior Cleo Harrington and senior Michelle Martinelli have been selected to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches 2017 Women’s Division I All-America Team as honorable mention choices, the ACWPC announced this week.

    The Harvard women’s water polo team finished the 2017 campaign ranked No. 15 in the nation, marking the highest finish for a squad in the CWPA rankings in program history. The Crimson reached the semifinals of the CWPA Championships for the first time since 2000, collecting a fourth-place finish in the conference tournament to finish the season on a high note.

    Harvard women’s water polo is coming off a year in which it recorded the highest finish at the CWPA Championships in program history, and now the Crimson looks to bolster its 2018 roster with the addition of four incoming freshmen. The class of 2021 features Jilly Cronin, Olivia Price, Quinne Pursell and Remedy Ryan.

    The Harvard women’s water polo team held its annual banquet to commemorate the 2017 campaign and its graduating seniors. Team awards were also given out to recognize outstanding contributions throughout the season.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team fell in the CWPA semifinals to No. 7 Michigan, 11-5, Saturday evening. The Crimson will finish play in the CWPA Championships tomorrow at noon against No. 15 Hartwick in the third-place game.
  • No. 20 Women’s Water Polo Rallies to Win Over No. 16 Indiana, 12-11

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team advanced to the semifinals of the CWPA Championships with a comeback win over No. 16 Indiana, 12-11, Friday evening. The Crimson scored six-straight goals after an early four-goal deficit, taking control in the second half as Harvard held on for the one-goal victory.
  • Martinelli, Hong Earn CWPA All-Conference Honors

    Senior Michelle Martinelli and sophomore Kristen Hong have been selected to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Conference teams, as announced by the league office today. Both were selected to the All-CWPA second team, marking the first all-league honors for Martinelli and Hong in their careers.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team split a pair of CWPA matches to finish up regular season play, defeating St. Francis (PA) after falling to No. 14 Indiana Saturday at Brown. The Crimson took care of the Red Flash, 14-3, bouncing back from a 7-3 loss to the Hoosiers earlier in the day.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team dropped its opening contest of the weekend against No. 18 Hartwick, 12-11, Friday night at Brown. The Crimson outscored the Hawks over the final three periods, but an early first quarter deficit proved to be the difference.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team concludes its regular season with three CWPA contests this weekend, April 14-15. The Crimson will take on Hartwick Friday night, before squaring off with Indiana and St. Francis (PA) Saturday. All games will be played at Brown.

  • Martinelli, Ribordy Lead No. 20 Women’s Water Polo in Route of Gannon, 17-6

    Senior Michelle Martinelli and freshman Mathilde Ribordy combined for nine goals as the No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team dominated against Gannon with a 17-6 victory Sunday morning. Martinelli matched her career-high with five goals, while Ribordy set a personal best with four scores against the Golden Knights.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team won the first of two contests this weekend with a 15-4 win over Mercyhurst Saturday evening. Ten different Crimson scored in the game, led by a trio of goals from senior Zoe Osborne.

    No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo returns to action on the East Coast after a week-long California road trip for a pair of matches against Mercyhurst and Gannon in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Crimson takes on Mercyhurst Saturday, March 25 at 6 p.m., before squaring off with Gannon for the second time this year on Sunday, March 26 at 9 a.m.
  • No. 20 Women’s Water Polo Rallies Past Santa Clara in Overtime, 9-8

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team rallied past Santa Clara, 9-8, in the second overtime period on Saturday afternoon, finishing its West Coast road trip on a high note. Junior Sami Strutner scored the game-winner in extra time, while sophomore Kristen Hong and freshman Sofia Carrera-Justiz each recorded a pair of goals to help the Crimson to the one-goal victory.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team fell in a closely-contested contest to No. 14 San Jose St., 5-3, on Friday evening. Junior Cleo Harrington had 11 saves in net for Harvard, marking her fourth double-digit save total on the year.

    The No. 20 Harvard women’s water polo team cruised to a 14-4 win over Fresno Pacific on Tuesday night. The Crimson moved to 2-2 on its West Coast road trip with three contests remaining this week.
