Harvard women’s water polo team lost and won a match in the opening dayof the ECAC Championships, Saturday afternoon. The Crimson’s upset bid fell short against Marist, the second seed in the tournament, as the team fell 12-10. Harvard rebounded to pick up a come-from-behind win over Wagner, 14-9, in the evening match.

Senior Devon MacLaughlin was one of the leaders of this years women's water polo that qualified for the Eastern Championships for the first time since 2007. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Harvard freshman Devan Kennifer scored four goals at the 2009 Eastern Championship and was honored as the Rookie of the Tournament, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced Sunday afternoon. Kennifer was also named to the All-Eastern Championship second team, just two days after Kennifer was selected as the CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Year.
