Chenoweth captured third at the NCAA Northeast Regionals Saturday in Connecticut (Harvard Athletic Communications).
MADISON, Conn. – Daniel Chenoweth turned in a top-five performance as both Harvard men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2010 NCAA Northeast Regional Meet, Saturday at Hammonasett Beach State Park. The men placed 12th overall out of 25 teams in the race while the women took 14th out of 25 squads.
Chenoweth continued his streak of strong results, placing third overall on the 10K course with a time of 29:51.2. As a result of his third-place finish, Chenoweth was named to the Cross Country All-Region Team for the third time in his career and earned his third consecutive automatic berth into the field at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Junior Michael Hoffman was the second Harvard finisher, placing 59th overall with a time of 31.28.5. Freshman Kurt Ruegg led a trio of freshmen finishers, taking 66th in the race with a time of 31:32.9. Classmates Aaron Watanabe (32:08.5) and Maksim Korolev (32:09.6) were the final two Crimson finishers, placing 99th and 100th, respectively.
Veteran Nicole Cochran fronted the women's effort for Harvard as she crossed the line in 53rd with a final time of 21:29.6 on the women's 6K championship course. Classmate Jeanne Mack was right on her tail with a 54th-place finish in a time of 21:30.6 and senior captain Eliza Ives finished soon after in 61st with a time of 21:36.5. Rookie Kristina Funahashi placed 110th overall in the race with a time of 22:17.8 and junior Kailyn Kuzmuk rounded out Harvard's scorers with a time of 22:21.2, good for 111th overall.
Harvard is back in action next Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., as the men take part in the IC4A Championships and the women compete in the ECAC Championships.
