Cross Country Adds Twelve Freshmen for 2012 Campaign

The incoming Harvard cross country class hails from eight states and two countries (Harvard Athletic Communications).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Director of track and field and cross country Jason Saretsky announced his incoming class for cross country, made up of 12 freshmen. The new class hails from eight states (Arizona, California, Georgia, Iowa, New York, Ohio, Oregon, and Massachusetts) and two countries (United States and England).

“With the addition of extraordinarily talented newcomers to our experienced upperclassmen, the outlook for the season is incredibly promising," said Saretsky. "The quality of training, group dynamics and overall health of the team are indicators that the men’s and women’s teams will reach the pinnacle of their potential.”

The men’s team will look to defend its title of Harvard-Yale champion at the annual battle with the archrival Bulldogs. The meet promises to be exciting as both squads have added tremendous talent to their teams. In the 2011 NCAA Regionals, Harvard had both male and female finishers in the top 15. Harvard hopes to build off of this impressive finish by cracking the top half of the Ivy league standings at the 2012 Heptagonal championships.
