Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Both the Harvard mens and womens cross country teams received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, the organization announced Monday. The mens team is one of 135 Division I mens programs to receive the honor for the 2009 season, up from 110 in 2008, while the women are one of 176 teams honored, up from 162 in 2008.

Three members of the Harvard cross country team have attained USTFCCCA All-Academic status, the organization announced Monday. Sophomore Kailyn Kuzmuk and junior Claire Richardson of the womens team and junior Dan Chenoweth of the mens team earned the award for their efforts during the 2009 cross country season.

The Harvard mens and womens cross country teams extended their win streaks over Yale to three-straight with victories over the Bulldogs Friday afternoon at Franklin Park. In the 97th running of the mens race, the Crimson edged Yale, 26-29, while the women defeated Yale, 15-49, in the 34th running of the womens event.

Erin Sprague is the youngest person ever to run a marathon on all seven continents. Thats right, all seven continents. A member of the class of 2005, a history concentrator, and a former resident of Quincy House, Sprague, who ran cross country for the Crimson, started running marathons when she graduated.
