James Herring, Football - James Herring blocked a punt late in the first quarter, giving Harvard six blocked punts and eight blocked kicks overall on the year. The Crimson leads the nation in both categories, and Herring has three blocked punts, which ties him for the national lead. Herring also registered two tackles in the game.
Lola Mullaney, Women’s Basketball- First-year Lola Mullaney made an impressive college debut, recording double-digit points in back-to-back games last week. Mullaney registered 25 points, including six three-pointers, and seven rebounds against Northern Illinois on Tuesday, before following up with 14 points against California on Friday.
Philip Conigliaro, Wrestling – The first-year won the 165-pound weight class at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open. In his first collegiate outing, Conigliaro opened the tournament with a 10-1 major decision before following with three consecutive decisions, including two straight over foes from No. 20 Cornell, to secure the title.
Mitchell Gibson, Men’s Ice Hockey - Making his first career starts for Harvard, first-year goaltender Mitchell Gibson was outstanding, picking up wins against Princeton and No. 15 Quinnipiac. In his first career start on Friday night against Princeton, Gibson stopped all 31 shots, recording a shutout in his collegiate debut. He became the first Harvard first-year goaltender to record a shutout in his debut since Tripp Tracy '96 (Nov. 13, 1992 vs. Union, 4-0). On Saturday night, Gibson made 32 saves against Quinnipiac to help Harvard earn the weekend sweep.
