Ng Competes at NCAA Wrestling Championships

David Ng won 21 matches during his senior season (Robert Preston).

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Senior David Ng won his second bout at the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships, but was eliminated on day one of the national tournament.

Ng, a senior, finishes his season 21-13 overall and extended Harvard's streak of having at least one wresters at NCAAs to 20 years.

Facing Stanford's Nathan Butler in the pigtail match, Ng, who hails from Massapequa, N.Y., trailed, 1-0, early in the second period as Butler scored an escape. Ng earned escape himself in the third to tie the score, 1-1, but in the final seconds of the bout, Butler had a near fall to win the match, 5-1.

In the second bout, Ng faced Columbia's Garrett Ryan for the fourth time, Ng trailed, 2-1, until late in the third period before escaping and tying the score. Ng then took down Ryan in the final seconds to win, 4-2.

Against Jacob Aiken-Phillips of Cornell, Ng was tied, 0-0, entering the third period, but Aiken-Phillips escaped to go up, 1-0. In the final moments, Aiken-Phillips scored two points on a take down and held on for the 4-0 victory.
