Women’s Basketball Begins Road Stretch at Northeastern and Colgate

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's basketball team will begin a seven-game road stretch this weekend, with stops at Northeastern and Colgate. The Crimson will make the short trip to Northeastern for a 4 p.m. tip-off on Sunday, Dec. 19 on NESN+. Harvard will then make a quick turnaround, taking on Colgate on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 12 p.m. on ESPN+.

What to Know
- Harvard enters the weekend with a 3-6 overall record after completing a trip out to Arizona State for the ASU Classic, Dec. 4-5, before the break. The Crimson dropped a closely contested matchup against Colorado State, 59-52, and later fell to Arizona State, 91-54.
- Harmoni Turner led the Crimson in scoring in back-to-back contests against Colorado State and Arizona State. The first-year posted 13 against the Rams and 18 against the Sun Devils to reach six games in double figures this season, including four-straight contests.
- Three Crimson players are averaging over 10.0 points per game this season. Junior McKenzie Forbes leads the team with 14.3 p/g, while Turner has netted 12.2 p/g and sophomore Lola Mullaney averages 11.8 p/g. Defensively, junior Maggie McCarthy and Turner top the line up in rebound with 5.1 and 4.9 per game, respectively.
- A month out from conference play, five Crimson players rank in the top-25 in scoring in the Ivy League. Forbes leads the way in fourth with 14.3 points per game, followed by Turner (12.2 p/g, eighth), Mullaney (11.8 p/g, 10th), Sussman (8.0 p/g, 20th) and McCarthy (8.0 p/g, 21st).
- Harvard ranks 32nd in the nation in three-point field goals made per game with 247. The Crimson is averaging 9.1 per game (.322 percent). Shooting with efficiency against Merrimack on Nov. 30, Harvard registered its highest three-point percentage of the season at 60.7 percent. Harvard tallied 17 three-pointers, its highest mark of the season.
- The Crimson currently holds a 3-0 home record within the friendly confines of Lavietes Pavilion. Dominating on its own hardwood, Harvard has surpassed 70 points in each of its home court victories this season.
- Harvard and Northeastern will meet for the 32nd time in program history this weekend. The Crimson trails in the all-time series against the Huskies, 15-16, but has notched wins in three of its last four meetings.
- Holding a 6-1 lead over Colgate in its all-time series, the Crimson has won each of its last five meetings against the Raiders dating back to 1993. Its most recent victory came in 2014 on home court, 58-53.

Leading the Way
The Friends of Harvard Women's Basketball Head Coach Kathy Delaney-Smith returns for her 40th season at the helm of the program. The winningest coach in Ivy League basketball history with 617 career victories, Delaney-Smith passed former Princeton head coach Pete Carril (514) for most wins by an Ancient Eight coach on either the men's or women's side during the 2013-14 season. Delaney-Smith owns a 617-421 overall record with a 360-159 mark in Ivy League play, including 12 20-win seasons, 11 Ivy titles and 15 postseason appearances.

Harvard will continue road play at the Hawk Classic at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia, Pa., Dec. 28-29. The Crimson will take on Norfolk State on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m., before facing either Saint Joe's or Alabama State at 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
