CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- For the first time since Nov. 23, 2019, the Harvard football team will hit the gridiron, as the Crimson visits Georgetown to open the 2021 season on Saturday, Sept. 18, for a 12:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and carried over the radio on Bloomberg WRCA (1330 AM/106.1 FM) in Boston.
The Hoyas enter this week with a 1-0 mark after defeating Delaware State, 20-14, in overtime on Sept. 11.

What to Know
• Tim Murphy, The Thomas Stephenson Family Head Coach for Harvard Football, is one victory away from tying Yale's Carm Cozza (179) for most wins for a coach at an Ivy League school.
• Saturday's game is just the fifth in the all-time series between Harvard and Georgetown, with the previous four meetings occuring from 2014-17. The Crimson is 4-0 against the Hoyas, outscoring them by a combined margin of 151-22.
• This week's game will be Harvard's 1,333rd varsity football game. The Crimson has an all-time record of 879-403-50 (.679).
• Harvard has won 15 of the last 19 season openers (.789) and is an impressive 119-25-2 (.822) all-time in the first game of the season. Under current head coach Tim Murphy, the Crimson is 18-8 (.692) on opening day.
• Since Tim Murphy began patrolling the Harvard sideline in 1994, the Crimson is 44-16 (.733) in games played in the month of September. Harvard boasts a 35-9 (.795) mark in the month since 2001.
• Heading into 2021, Harvard has amassed a 209-138-8 (.600) all-time record against opponents currently in the Patriot League. The Crimson will face three Patriot League oponents this fall: Georgetown (Sept. 18), Holy Cross (Oct. 2) and Lafayette (Oct. 16).

• In his 27th season, Harvard's all-time winningest head coach, Tim Murphy, enters this week's game with a 178-81 record with the Crimson and a 210-126-1 overall head coaching record, which includes five years at Cincinnati and two years at Maine. Since the formation of the Ivy League in 1956, only one Ivy coach (Yale's Carm Cozza) has compiled more wins than Murphy's 178 and he is just one of 11 coaches to win 100-plus games. Murphy also owns 124 Ivy League wins, third-most all-time. Murphy has led Harvard to nine Ivy League championships (1997, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015).
